1.What is VHummer? Can I use VHummer?
VHummer is an Internet telephone service. Everyone with Internet connection can use VHummer service to make long distance calls. Just sign up, download and install VHummer Softphone. You can start dialing immediately.

2.What do I need to make calls with VHummer?
You need a VHummer account (Sign up for free), a VHummer software (Free download) and a computer connected to Internet. To achieve the best communication quality, a headset with microphone is highly recommended.

3.Does VHummer work with 128Kbps Internet connections?
VHummer can run on all broadband Internet connections, including 128Kbps connections which are considered the lowest broadband. Although some users use VHummer with 56Kbps dialup connection, it is highly recommended to use VHummer with higher bandwidth Internet connections. In everyday use, however, many factors may influence the actual call experience, such as Internet connection of the callee, network congestion, environmental noise and whether or not both parties are using headphones instead of speakers.

4.Can I use VoIP hardphone/adapter or other VoIP softphone with VHummer?
Theoretically our system works with any VoIP client as long as it supports standard SIP protocol and is properly configured. However we are not yet ready to provide customer technical support for third-party hardware and software. You may find some useful information on our online forum on this topic.

5.How can I cancel my VHummer account?
Actually there is no need to cancel your VHummer account, since your account and your calls to other VHummer users are always free. Just leave your account with us in case you need it again. If you have fund in your account and want to have it back, please send your request to us with your username and password. Please note a refund may take several weeks to finalize depending on your original payment method.

6.Your rates are very attractive. Are there any hidden fees?
No. You only pay for the time you called plus tax if you are a Canadian resident. If you are subscriber of monthly plans and services, you just pay the monthly fees plus tax if you are a Canadian resident.

7.How do I dial toll free numbers? Are they free?
To dial toll free numbers in US and Canada, just dial the number as you see, for example you can just dial 1800xxxxxxx. To dial toll free numbers in other countries, please add 011 and country code to the number. At present, only calls to toll free numbers in US & Canada are free. Calls to toll free numbers in other countries will be charged by minutes.

8.The HummMe area code I want is listed in your Web site, but I can't find that area code when I subscribe HummMe service. Why?
It is because we have run out on that area code. Please come back and have a look from time to time, we may have it again in stock.

9.How can I use VHummer voicemail service?
VHummer voicemail service is free to all users. It is trigered when you are off-line or fail to pick up the call after approximately three to six rings (configurable through VHummer software). Messages are recorded in MP3 format and are forwarded to your registered email address with Caller ID. Voicemail greeting can be customizable by using VHummer software also, but voicemail service can not be turned off at present.

10.I do not have US Dollar credit card, and I am not living in Canada or USA. Can I use my credit card to pay online?
Yes. Please try paying with your credit card online through PayPal or through direct credit card payment system. Most of international credit cards are accepted, and your payment from credit cards in currencies other than USD will be automatically converted by your bank into US Dollar.

11.How long does it take for my payment to show up in my account?
It depends on payment method you choose. The fastest payment is through a verified PayPal account, which will be pending for just one business day for security verification. Payments from an unverified PayPal account or through direct credit card payment will be pending for two business days. The slowest payment method is by mailing a certified cheque, bank draft or money order. Please allow sufficient time for your certified cheque, bank draft or money order to be mailed and cleared.

12.How can I get rid of echos?
Using speakers instead of headphones is the number one cause of echos. If you have no access to headphone, please at least move the microphone away from speakers and reduce the speaker volume. Please note that your effort of using headphone will eliminate the echos heard by the other party of call and vice versa. Network congestions may also cause echos. If this is the case, please hang up and try again later.

13.I am a new user of VHummer. Whatever number I dial, it always shows "Callee Not Found."
Please note you should add 1 to all US and Canada numbers, add 011 and country code to all numbers in other countries, no matter where you are calling from.

14.I signed up a few days ago, and I was able to made calls without problem. But today, whatever number I dial, it always shows "Callee Not Found."
You may have used up the free minutes we give to new users. Please pay online to continue using our service.

15.My VHummer Softphone displays "Login Failed." I am sure I entered my username and password correctly.
Your computer or network may have blocked the port VHummer requires to operate. Please open UDP port 80 or simply disable the firewall in your computer and/or network router. Please consult the router manual or your company network administrator for further information.

18.Is there any other place I can download VHummer Messenger?
Yes you can also download VHummer Messenger from Download.com. Make sure the version is up-to-date with VHummer's current release by checking VHummer's own download page.

19.Are there any other Instant Messenger that works with VHummer Messenger?
Yes currently Windows Live Messenger and Google Talk.
